Since 1954 the Commonwealth Boxing Council in its various forms has regulated and sanctioned Commonwealth Championships.
Future world champions like Hogan Kid Bassey of Nigeria through Lennox Lewis to Carl Froch of England. National heroes like Ghana’s Floyd Robertson of Ghana through Sir Henry Cooper of England to Australia's Paul Ferrari and Modest Napunyi of Kenya. All have held our prestigious championship, a gateway to top international class. Friendly links with the 4 major championship organizations help ensure our deserving champions get high rankings and world title opportunties.
The CBC also provides a forum for discussion and mutually beneficial inter-action between the various national boxing federations that make up the membership and is one of the most respected championship organizations in the world today.
28th MAY 2010 THE LATE HARRY CARPENTER OBE
The CBC was represented by new Chairman, Philip Brook-Smith QC, at the Memorial Service for eminent broadcaster and journalist, the late Harry Carpenter OBE, which took place on Tuesday 25th May at St Brides Church in Londons' Fleet Street.
19th MAY 2010 COMMISERATIONS AND CONGRATULATIONS
Former Commonwealth Featherweight Champion Kevin Mitchell made a brave but unsuccessful challenge for the WBO World Superfeatherweight Championship on Saturday 15th May at West Hams' Upton Park losing in 3 rounds to the Champion, Michael Katsidis.
Meanwhile, former Commonwealth Lightweight Champion, Amir Khan, successfully defended his WBA World Lightwelterweight Championship stopping Paulie Malignaggi in 11 rounds in New Yorks famous Madison Square Gardens.

29th APRIL 2010 NEW CHAIRMAN APPOINTED
Philip Brook-Smith QC has been appointed as new Chairman following the decision of Eric Armit to step down after 5 years in the top job.Mr Brook-Smith is a Recorder at the Crown Court and has been appointed by the Ministry of Justice to the Tribunals Procedures Committee.He also assisted the British Boxing Board of Control as a member of its Independent Drugs Tribunal, and is a lifelong boxing fan
Mr Armit remains a Director of the CBC as well as its principal international records advisor (See 'Notices')
6th APRIL 2010 SPRING INTERIM MEETING
The next meeting of the CBC will take place in London over 20th and 21st April. A bulletin will be issued including a list of recognized contenders and Championship defence obligations shortly afterwards and will also be posted on his website under 'Notices'

John O'Donnell has advised the Hon Secretary that he has relinquished the Welterweight Championship to concentrate on his British Title ambitions. Following agreement with mandatory contender Philip Kotey of Ghana, Hatton Promotions will stage a match for the vacant Championship on 16th April between Mark Thompson and Adnam Amar, both of England

26 October 2009 TWO TITLES DECLARED VACANT
Supermiddleweight Jermain Mackay of the Bahamas and Flyweight Chris Edwards of England have both fallen foul of CBC Regulation 2.10 which provides that a Commonwealth Champion who is defeated at the weight by an eligble Commonwealth Boxer in a match which has not been sanctioned as a Commonwealth Title loses the Title automatically loses the Title.
Mackay was beaten in a match for the WBC International Title in Canada on the 25th September by Adonis Stevenson.Edwards lost his challenge for the British Championship this weekend against Shinney Bayaaar and like Mackay is now an ex-Champion.
